Thanks to you, Campaign for UINDY closes as great success

To the Scholars, Partners, and Friends of the University of Indianapolis:

On June 30, 2006, the highly successful Campaign for UINDY officially came to an end and we want to thank you personally for your participation and support. The first-ever comprehensive campaign in the University’s history, exceeded all expectations in terms of funds raised and the number of individuals supporting it.

Here are a few highlights achieved with your support:

  • An astounding total of $75,759,168 was raised—toward an original campaign goal of $50,000,000.
  • More than 9,754 individuals, foundations, corporations, and organizations supported the campaign.
  • Nine challenge grants were met, securing 100 percent of all challenge funds.
  • The Board of Trustees committed $19,597,177.
  • More than sixty percent of the faculty and staff contributed; gifts totaled over $1,200,000.
  • The first fully funded endowed chair for faculty was established.
  • 64 new scholarships were endowed for deserving students.
  • 48,000 square feet of academic and programmatic space was added to Esch Hall.
  • Two centers of excellence were established, bringing national recognition to our campus and its educational programs: the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning and the Center for Aging and Community.
  • Two of the five largest foundations in the country, the Lilly Endowment and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, supported the campaign.

A full report will be distributed this fall. We have so much to be proud of, and the University is now positioned to pursue new challenges. We will continue to expand facilities and programs, increase the endowment, and purchase equipment to meet the growing needs of our students and faculty.

Thank you again for your support and interest in the Campaign for UINDY, and for being a scholar, partner, and friend to today’s faculty and students and to those to come.

Our sincerest gratitude,
